My time...

Howdie!

Let me share something very personal, very feminine and I will share this because it can be inspiring for other women suffering from the same crap...I don't think I have male readers, my husband probably pick on my blog sometimes when I am not looking! If you are a man, delurk now, it's your chance!

Well, this is suppose to be the "pms" week. In fact it is. Amazingly after several months struggling with all sorts of cramps, aches (all over the body), migraines, emotional imbalance, sleepiness, this is the first time that I am feeling fine. Ok, maybe a bit earlier to jump and commemorate my goal, but so far I can't complaim. I started exercizing last week and I also got a great body massage on Monday (will repeat it this Friday). I cut sodas from my diet last month and they are not allowed in this home anymore. Red meat once or twice a week. I used to drink diet coke a lot in the past. Oh my goodness, I am sleeping well. I am trying to treat this annoying problem (yes, it became a big problem in my life) as natural as I can, because we go see doctors and they listen to our complaims for 10 minutes and they might prescribe those pills for depression but hey...I am fine for half month! I am not against medications or doctors, don't get me wrong...but let me try this way for a bit?! I had to choose: or I start a better diet and exercise for good or I will have to take those pills. I did once for a few months, after my first baby birth and I turned into a cold heart. Doesn't matter how sad an event was, I would be smiling! I just wanna be myself at this time. I don't want medications like that ruling my life unless is very necessary.

Today I wanted to skip the gym. I was so sleepy in the morning and my body is aching a little bit because all these muscles are moving and stretching...they are probably screaming to stop, but I won't. I will be persistent. It's hard sometimes. I was never a couch potato, but living with kids and being at home all the time, we get used to it. It's much easier to sit down and let it go.

Yesterday I had yoga and spinning and wow...there were ladies like 20 years oder than I and they were doing great! Someone in my family, it happens to be my grandpa's sister (the only one alive of the 14 kids my great grandma had - I don't know how she did that!!! Haha, they did not have a tv or computer!) is turning 103 next January. She practiced yoga and lap swimming almost her entire life. She is living forever!! I must add that she has no health problems at all, I mean heart disease, or diabetics, etc... The same applies to my grandma. She would never eat pizza, too much pasta, cakes (once in a while), sugar cookies and sodas...never! She always cooked her own meals (lots of vegetables) and she is 94 this September. Of course there are other factors for longevity, but I bet that they did pretty well in the past and now they can have a long life. I wanna get old, but I wanna get there healthy.

I've been searching for some good readings for encouragement and I want to learn better about food, a bit of holistic health, I took a trip to the organic/natural/eco friendly grocerie store and I came home with some teas, cerals...and hopefully everything will be all right!

Yoga is so very good. You should give it a try!

If you have any experience to share, drop your message.

Because I love photos on my posts...these are not new, but I like the bright results and the cheerful colors. Have a great end of week!!!

I completely agree with you about dr's. There's a time and place for them, but there's also natural ways to treat things! I believe that natural is usually so much better.

I haven't tried Yoga yet, but I've been meaning to. I've been hearing great things about it!

Thanks for your really honest post. That's so wonderful that you are making these changes to better your life. Isn't it amazing how these little changes can make you feel a hundred percent better in such a short amount of time? I have gone through periods of my life where I haven't exercised... and I can also say that this made me unhappy. To be able to work my body and sweat, and run, it makes me feel so alive. At the beginning of August, I started running really regularly, after a whole bunch of off & on stuff... and I want to keep it going :o) I love the feeling I get from running. I'm running a 10k race this Sunday! I feel great. The next thing I want to work on is going to bed earlier...! Take care & keep up the fantastic way you're treating your body.

Hi Zee!Sorry you are feeling so bad.I know exactly what you mean....I think many people in the states rely so much on medication for everything that it's normal for a doctor to offer pills instead of trying to deal with the issue alternatively.I really don't believe in taking most medicines unless there's no way around it,of course.I strongly believe that a healthy diet is the key to a successfully healthy life....although I do think it would be even better to eat from a garden of your own since we don't know what's all in the produce we eat from the stores.Since my husband works out of state,I have let myself go badly, stopped exercising & stopped eating better & I am paying the price, because it's so much easier to be lazy & put on weight & feel bad than it is to exercise, which does help me feel happier....it's just so hard to start. I know there are lots of books out there about what you are dealing with & I don't know if you read any of them, but they basically say what we think is the answer-exercise & a healthy diet.I also believe that the way you choose to feel has a big impact b/c we actually are in charge of our emotions(sometimes),so we should make ourselves feel happy by doing only the things that heer us up.By the way, your photos really cheer me up,they are so colorful & full of happiness!Renee

OOOO how familiar that all sounds. During my 3rd pregnancy I became depressed and started a very low dose of zoloft and it worked wonders. Since having him I stopped taking the meds for a while and found that for 2 weeks out of the month I was great but the other 2 weeks not so good. I have cut carbs to almost nothing...started the south beach diet plan per say. Exercise regularly, avoid caffine....I have to have morning coffee though. I am back on the zoloft. I tried taking prozac for 2 weeks out of the month and it was not great.. My changes and the meds have made a huge difference. Hang in there.....Its tough but keep at it.

Hi Zee,
I always try something natural before going to the doctor, unless is something really bad. Now that I am pregnant I am also exercising a bit more (of course in moderation and a proper routine for pregnant women) and it makes such a difference. A few little changes in life style really makes us feel better. :)
Have a great weekend, my friend.

Dearest ZEe, I am back to my normal life! I think your change of habbits is absolutely wonderful and you should keep on going with them. I am just going to suggest something else to sort out your pms, it is called Mirena, and it is an intrauterine contraception that releases hormones only in the uterus. Think if you google it you may find the webpage. have a talk to your doctor. I have no pms and no period, two wonders taht have happened to me! Ok, got to go, will send you an email afterwards! Bisous,

I'm so jeolous you get to try all these wonderful things. I think I have to agree with most of the comments it is better to treat your body with natural solutions rather than trying medication that just makes you numb to the world.

After I had my oldest my depression was so bad. Being young and having a baby and a my family were thousand of miles away made things harder. I have always been a avid runner so my doctor said to run a little more and get out of the house more to focus a little bit more on me. I think when you have that time you can come home and be a better mom. Wether it be a run an exercise class or a girls trip. These things are good. I'm so glad you are feeling better and we all appreciate you sharing these things. You are inspiring.

It's very seldom that I go to the doctor. I feel like being gyped for paying for health insurance but it's a necessary evil...

I cut down on my classic coke 2 or 3 years ago. I eat good stuff and I walk on and off.

I was juicing and eating raw veggies and fruit for awhile and that really worked but I fell off the wagon. Oh, well! GL on everything.

Hi,

My Dr. recommended reading The China Study. It's an amazing book that helps you with your health issues and proves that what you eat is what makes you sick and or healthy. I recommend it to all my friends and family.

I try go to spinning at least 3 times a week ( sometimes I can't because of my shifts at work) and I feel incredible good since I exercise!!! Before I started going to the gym I was always so stressed and nervous. I needed a way to waste all my extra energy!
I agree with you about doctors and pills. Pills can solve your physical problems, but sometimes they can't help you with another kind of problems. you are the one who has to make the change in your life!!! and you are in it!!!
